Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Huanghua Ancient Town for its authentic, nearly 1000-year-old architecture and serene atmosphere, making it a photographer's paradise. The ability to enter for free after 6 PM is a significant draw. However, limited English proficiency and the town's somewhat remote location are points to consider.

"Great place to visit. An ancient town that is nearly 1000 years old. Well signposted for tourists, follow the red lanterns. Costs 60 Yuen to enter, free after 18:00.

Spend the day here wandering about. It's an old town so don't expect loads of modernisation in the town.

Great for photography and drawing if you're artistically inclined.

Try Yu Ni Caf Fe (Uni Cafe), it's not here on Google Maps.

English is limited so practise your Mandarin! People do speak some English but it is sporadic.

Will visit again. Very chilled and relaxing. December 2024."

"Very scenic area. Very crowded during labor day weekend. It's a typical ancient city in China."

"At low season, the thousand year-old Huangyao ancient city stands quiet and relaxed in the provincial towns of Guangxi Province. The city is well-restored, providing tourists with myriad choices in heritage learning, coffee drinking, amazing scenery and plenty of local good food. The specialty of Huangyao is its fermented black bean, so be sure to get a steamed sparerib or fish dish at the restaurants. I enjoyed my dinner with river and mountain views, and was pleasantly surprised by the fireworks. The city exhibits an incredible sense of hospitality to its visitors. There are also plenty of choices in terms of accommodation inside the city itself. However, be prepared that getting here from hezhou will take time."
