What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the breathtaking and iconic views of the Chigang Pagoda with Mt. Fuji as the backdrop, calling it a must-see. The climb is noted as a significant but rewarding part of the experience. Some mention the crowds can be intense, especially during peak hours.
"I saw this tower on a map in 1989, and took it upon myself to ride a bicycle in search of it. I just kept trying to find a way in and eventually approached the tower from the East side. It was not renovated, had vegetation growing from all levels, was a dirty white and grey color, and was surrounded by a vast wasteland of uneven ground, situated in the middle of a large block. It was a great privilege to visit the neglected tower. Somehow the Red Guards had overlooked it and it had survived the years of destruction and turmoil. I recently looked it up, worried it may have been destroyed. Great joy to see it was recognized as a cultural treasure in the year I visited and has been restored with a beautiful park constructed around it. Would love to visit again one day. This beautiful tower is on a par with the magnificent bronze statue of the much loved Ch’an (Zen) Sixth Patriarch Hui-neng at Liurong Pagoda in the city centre. Not to be missed for Buddhists."
