Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise People's Park for its vibrant local atmosphere and cultural insights, particularly the unique Marriage Market and the captivating tea ceremonies. While some note it can be crowded on weekends and advise caution against minor scams, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, highlighting it as a must-visit for an authentic Chengdu experience. Reddit

"We spent 10 days in Chengdu as part of a international delegation showcasing basketry at the Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival. As such we had not much time to explore the city at all but on our last morning, before our transfers back to the airport we wanted to go out and spend some time in a "green" area. The Peoples park looked interesting and close to a subway station so we choose this one.

It was a very hot day and as soon as we entered one of the lovely paved walkways the temperature dropped a few degrees. As "western" people we loved the way the whole park is centered around the big lake but also offers shaded bamboo groves, and even a wonderful Bonsai Garden. There were plenty of stalls to buy a refreshment and even tea gardens.

There is also a kind of "marriage" grove were people can pin their classified ads on fences with their details and hope for love. Rather fascinating.

We spent about 2 hours there and loved every minute."

"This park is such a lively spot where you see all sorts of things happening.
Local folks hang out and relax, while some play cards, mahjong, or dance.
There’s a small market area where people sell snacks and other goods, plus there’s a spot for kayaking.
There’s also a really unique “offline Tinder” section, where you can see handwritten profiles of people looking for partners, a pretty fascinating thing to see.
Outside the park, there are plenty of street vendors too.
It’s definitely an interesting place to stroll around and see how the locals spend their time."

"If you ever find yourself in Chengdu and feel like taking a breather, you’ve got to check out this park right in the middle of the city. It’s huge — honestly, I’m not even sure if I managed to walk through the whole thing! But every step I took felt full of life.

People were everywhere, just living their best lives — chatting, chilling, taking slow walks, working out, even dancing in little groups. Some were doing aerobics, and some were just having fun dancing together. It was such a happy vibe.

The park itself is full of little surprises: a peaceful Chinese-style pavilion, a big sparkling pond, gentle hills, colorful gardens, and stunning sculptures scattered all around. But one of the real highlights? The tea house.

This isn’t just any tea house — it's famous for its incredible tea-pouring shows! I was absolutely amazed watching the tea masters at work. They don’t just serve tea — they turn it into a full-on performance. With long-spouted teapots, they twirl, spin, and pour tea from what feels like impossible angles, all with such grace and precision. It’s like watching a dance, but with tea! Honestly, I could have sat there all day just sipping tea and watching the magic happen.

If you’re ever in Chengdu, make sure to carve out a morning for this park. You’ll get a real taste of local life and a front-row seat to some unforgettable tea artistry. 🌿🍵✨"
