What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the breathtaking views and thrilling experience of walking on the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge. The surrounding natural beauty is consistently praised, and the additional adventure activities like zip-lining and bungee jumping add to the excitement. However, some find the bridge's glass to be a bit worn, and the sheer number of visitors can detract from the experience, leading to crowded conditions and photo-taking challenges.
"Before we enter the Grand Canyon Glass Bridge, we need put on their shoe covers not to damage their bridge. When walking, this transparent bridge seems to be suspended in the air, with bottomless streams and rugged rock formations under our feet.
Although the glass was not clear, a bit worn out look by constant foot traffic, we could still see all the way down to the bottom of the canyons.
There are handrails with metal structure showing signs of rust, along the walkway to ensure safety.
It was very crowded with visitors, everyone is posing for photographs within the natural wonders and stunning beauty of the surrounding area. Half way through , there is a stairs down to a lower level where bungee jumping takes place. At the end of this bridge, lots of walk through the stairs to get to their toilets.
There are numerous activities available, bungee jumping, a zip line between mountains and rock climbing.
We joined the Balloon Trip with 4D VR experience. It simulate the high-attitude perspective of flying over the Grand Canyon through immersive images to feel the magnificient scenery of Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon !!!!

"For a thrilling experience, you should walk across this glass bridge which also happens to be the world's longest glass bridge. It spans across zhangjiajie's grand canyon. Aside from this, you can also take the zip line across the canyon as well as walk along a narrow walkway on the cliff sides itself."

"Glass view bridge is a nice thing to do. There are some extras to do that make the real fun. Zip line was funny thing to do. Not as scary as it looks. Slides were also fun. Boat is just a short trip up and down a small lake. A bit dull. Note that there is no exit, when you are at the lake, you have to go up again by climbing stairs, taking all the lifts up, climbing more stairs and then go over the glass bridge again. Luckily not so crowded today."

🚇 🗺️ Getting There
The most convenient way is to arrange a round-trip car transfer from your hotel in Wulingyuan, which typically takes 40-60 minutes. Public transport options might be available but can be less direct. It's advisable to check with your accommodation for the best local advice.
No, the Glass Bridge is located in the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, which is a separate attraction from the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.
While both are in the Zhangjiajie area, visiting both in one day can be very rushed and involve a lot of travel and walking. Many visitors find it a 45k step day just for the Grand Canyon area. It's recommended to allocate at least a full day for the Grand Canyon and its activities.
For efficiency, consider booking private car transfers or joining organized tours that cover multiple attractions like Tianmen Mountain, Avatar Mountain, and the Glass Bridge.
It's best to arrange a round-trip transfer in advance to ensure you have reliable transport back, especially if you plan to stay until closing.

Ticket prices can vary, and often a combined ticket is available that includes access to the bridge and other activities. It's recommended to check official sources or tour operators for the most current pricing.

Opening hours can vary seasonally. It's best to check the official website or your tour provider for the most up-to-date information on operating times.

Walking across the bridge itself might take about 15-30 minutes, depending on how often you stop for photos and to take in the views.
📸 📸 Photography Tips
The entire bridge offers incredible photo opportunities. Try capturing shots looking down, looking out at the canyon, and with the bridge's structure in the foreground.
While personal photos are encouraged, professional photoshoots might require special permits or arrangements. It's best to inquire with the park management.
A wide-angle lens is great for capturing the vastness of the canyon and the bridge. A phone camera with good stabilization is also sufficient for most visitors.
Generally, standard cameras and phones are allowed. Tripods might be restricted in very crowded areas to ensure smooth pedestrian flow.
Experiment with different angles, try to capture the scale by including people in your shots, and utilize the reflections on the glass for creative compositions.

The Thrill of the Glass Bridge
Visitors often describe the experience as both terrifying and breathtaking. The sheer drop and the seemingly endless expanse of glass create a unique psychological challenge. Despite the initial fear, many find the panoramic views of the surrounding karst mountains to be absolutely spectacular, making it a must-do for adventure seekers and photographers alike.
It's important to note that while the bridge is designed for safety, the glass surface can become a bit worn from the constant flow of visitors. Nevertheless, the feeling of walking on air and the stunning natural beauty make it an unforgettable part of any trip to Zhangjiajie.
Beyond the Bridge: Adventure Activities
For a different kind of excitement, visitors can try the glass slide, a fun and speedy way to descend part of the canyon. Another unique experience is the VR balloon trip, which simulates flying over the Grand Canyon, offering an immersive and realistic perspective of the magnificent scenery without the physical exertion. These additional activities transform a visit to the Grand Canyon into a full day of adventure and exploration.
Many of these activities are often bundled together, providing a comprehensive adventure package. It's worth noting that these extra activities come with an additional cost, so budgeting accordingly is advised. The combination of the glass bridge and these thrilling options makes Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon a premier destination for adventure tourism in China.
Navigating the Grand Canyon Experience
Be prepared for a considerable amount of stair climbing, especially when exiting the canyon area. Some visitors mention having to ascend numerous stairs to reach the exit, which can be tiring. For those looking to save some energy or enjoy a different perspective, the majestic elevator offers a ride up the cliff face with impressive views. The entire experience, from the bridge to the various activities and the necessary ascents, can easily fill a full day.
To make the most of your visit, wear comfortable footwear and be ready for an active day. Planning your route and understanding the layout of the attractions beforehand can help manage expectations and ensure a smoother experience.
