What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Valparaíso's trolleybuses are a beloved, historic mode of transport offering scenic rides at a low cost. While many praise the vintage charm, friendly drivers, and eco-friendly electric options, some travelers have raised concerns about potential delays and, in rare instances, driver collusion with criminals. Overall, it's a highly recommended, authentic experience for exploring the city's colorful hills.
"Travel back in time!! Most of the trolleys are very old, but you can't miss a ride on one. The fare is very cheap considering you can tour the entire city, and I also think it has spectacular historical value. If you hop on one of the new ones at each stop, it tells you about nearby tourist attractions. 100% recommended!"
Valeria Gemelli
"One of the best modes of transportation in Valparaíso. It's non-polluting, safe, and the drivers are friendly. It's cheap, but you should plan ahead as it's not fast; the full trip takes 45 minutes. Clean and very folksy."
Yarinka Pessini Mancilla
"It's unacceptable that some drivers collude with criminals to facilitate robberies. This afternoon, I was the victim of a driver who, for no reason, slammed on the brakes to give two robbers the opportunity to rob me. I know this won't come to anything, but at least my message can be read and will serve as a warning to users, mostly tourists, to be more careful or simply find another way to get to know the city. Unfortunately for the driver, he won't get a commission for thwarting their robbery, and they'll be grateful I didn't leave such a mess, just because I was with my daughters."
