Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Guatin Cardones Canyon as a beautiful, free natural attraction featuring unique tall cacti, cascading waterfalls, and relaxing thermal pools. While the initial walk is easy, the path can become challenging with rock scrambling further in. Navigation can be tricky if relying solely on GPS, with some routes leading to river crossings.
"Easy to drive there in a normal car. You'll see the obvious turn off for parking on the way there. You can walk about 15 minutes into the canyon. After that the walk becomes more complicated and you are scrambling along the river/rocks. I think this is one of the few places in San Pedro where a guide actually makes sense (if you are interested in canyoning)."

"Definitely stop here for a beautiful unique hike with water, cactus, and flowers. Turn off where you see the sign for Valle de Los Cactus. There are bathrooms and a little cafe next to the parking lot."
Steve Goodfriend
"Free Thermas. Don't pay $35 per person at Thermas de Puritama. These thermas are just downstream of the expensive "hot springs." It is very picturesque with lots of very tall cactus, fox tails, and many other flora. Plus, there are so many waterfalls going down a wonderful canyon. With trails on the upper sides of each side of the canyon. Bring hiking poles if you have them. Don't forget your swim wear. Also, don't follow Google maps to this location. There is a bridge just before the small town, turn before the bridge. Good luck!"
