Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Parque del Estrecho de Magallanes Visitor Center to be an underrated gem, offering a rich historical experience and stunning natural beauty. While some find the fort itself less grand than expected, the immersive museum, breathtaking views of the Strait, and the 'end of the world' atmosphere are consistently praised. It's considered a worthwhile stop for those exploring the Punta Arenas region.

"I went here in a group tour. This is like the fort at the world's end. It looked to me, more like small village with small houses rather than a fort. There is also a viewpoint here seeing the Strait of Magellan. Its very windy, so bring your jackets"

Chandra Kanth Reddy

"Extremely underrated/overlooked spot.

We had a few days in Punta Arenas prior to heading to Torres Del Paine. We opted out of penguin tours due to costs and the time commitment (a 10-12 hour day to see an hour of penguins). This was an extremely pleasant surprise of a day.

The photos of this spot don't do it justice. We went here on a whim and spent the better part of a day here!

What's here
- An amazing viewpoint from one of the southernmost points of Chile
- A few hours of hiking trails (optional - you can drive to the viewpoint and still have fun with minimal walking)
- A cafe with a great view
- Giftshop
- Small museum explaining the significance of the museum
- A small fort from early Spanish settlers

The site and its amenities seems fairly new. The fort itself wasn't terribly exciting, but the beautiful views and the significance of the fort in Chile's history were well worth it. It's not remotely crowded: it seems like a person/group of people built this as a passion project and are still trying to raise awareness.

Well worth a day of your trip if you're within a drive of 1-2 hours anyway and have a day to fill."

John Fackoury

"Go there to get a feel of the "end of world".
It tells a lot about the history, the people and the land. It's a pity that it is so far south...but well the views and the knowledge you get about the history, flora, and fauna in an open space, it's worth it. You can spend 1.5-6h there depending on your interest.
The park rangers are very nice and knowledgeable."
