What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Aysén Regional Museum to be a free and interesting spot, particularly for its exhibits on Patagonian colonization and an engaging whale evolution display. While the entry process can be cumbersome and descriptions are only in Spanish, the interactive nature and well-designed gardens make it a worthwhile visit, especially for families.
"To access Internet we needed to input our passport number and create a password. It also requires mother's maiden name! There was no staff present to help navigate through the cumbersome process. Following this we were able to download QR code for audio, which didn't work for us..
The museum had some interesting items but seemed superficial in it's coverage.
There is room for improvement in this regard and use of space... Lot's of space to add exhibits which, I assume, they are working towards."

This is the best museum in Coyhaique. I absolutely recommend it!!"

"Really great spot, free. If you only speak English just download a translation app on your phone that can translate from your camera… and don’t complain that an attraction in a foreign country isn’t using your native language, people are incredible with what they’ll complain about."

Understanding the Entry Process
It's advisable to be prepared for this digital entry system. Having your passport readily available and understanding the need to create login credentials will streamline your arrival. While the audio guide might be helpful, having a backup translation app on your phone is a wise precaution, especially since exhibit descriptions are exclusively in Spanish.
Exploring the Exhibits

The overall design of the museum and its garden is also praised, creating a pleasant environment for exploration. The space is considered good-sized for kids, suggesting a family-friendly atmosphere.
Practicalities for Visitors
Crucially, all exhibit descriptions are in Spanish. Visitors who don't speak Spanish are strongly advised to download a translation app that can translate text from their camera. This will allow for a much richer understanding of the displays. Complaining about the lack of English translations in a foreign country is discouraged; preparedness is key.
