During the day play some "reconstruction" of the key battle that took place there (unsure it's worth waiting for it, maybe watching some YouTube recording is enough?).
There are no facilities like public bathrooms or even parking (need to park on the crowded streets nearby), tickets cost about 2 USD per person.
You may end up spending 40-50 minutes. Consider opening hours, especially in relation with ferry schedule to get there, we waited 2 hours on January to cross from Niebla."

"We rode the public bus out to Niebla from Valdivia. Pleasant half hour ride with commuters and Chilean vacationers, the caught the ferry to Corral to see the fort. Maybe spent $10 USD (equivalent). All the pubs were closed in Corral, but the famous Kuntsmann Brewery is on the way home by bus. Great lunch and beer! A bit of a wait for lunch..."
