What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Manitoba Legislative Building for its impressive architecture, rich history, and the insightful free guided tours. The building's unique symbolism, inspired by ancient designs, is a frequent highlight. While the grounds are often quiet, the interior can be busy, and ensuring you have valid ID is crucial for entry and tours.
"I recently had the pleasure of visiting on a Saturday afternoon in mid-July and was pleasantly surprised to find that we lucked into a tour. The grounds were pretty deserted of any humanity, yet the foyer of building was buzzing with, like, 3 security guards per tourist. Anyway, despite it being a weekend, grateful the building was open, allowing us to explore this architectural gem.
The 45-minute tour was incredibly thorough, providing a deep dive into the building's fascinating history. We learned about the intriguing scandal associated with its construction, the origins of the stone and marble, and the rich symbolism behind the numerous sculptures and reliefs. This building truly stands as a temple to Parliamentary democracy, and the attention to detail in its design is captivating.
Overall, the experience was enlightening and memorable, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in history, architecture, or politics. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this tour is a must-see for a deeper understanding of Manitoba's heritage and governance."

"My friend and I visited the Manitoba Legislative Building, but unfortunately, due to a system error, his Ontario driver’s license was flagged as invalid. He didn’t have another piece of ID with him, and at first they treated it like a possible scam. Because of this, we weren’t able to join the tour right away, even though he’s an Ontario citizen and I’m from British Columbia.
Later, when I called him back to join, the staff admitted the issue was in their system. While I appreciate the eventual apology, the situation spoiled part of our visit. It’s a government building, and citizens should be able to enjoy it without unnecessary stress. Disappointing at first, but I’m glad they made it right in the end."
