What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate Waterloo City Hall for its role in civic services and community events, with many praising the warmth and professionalism of staff, especially for intimate weddings. However, some reviews point to concerns about parking availability and the upkeep of public spaces, suggesting a need for improved maintenance and resource allocation for infrastructure.
"I believe that since City Hall is responsible for the entire city, there should be stronger supervision over public transportation facilities. While the infrastructure is being built, I have noticed that maintenance and cleaning are often neglected afterward. This should be addressed so that the city’s public spaces remain clean, safe, and welcoming.
I won’t give just one star — I give five stars for the effort and the hard work you do for our community. However, I kindly ask that more attention be given to keeping the city looking beautiful, as it truly reflects the pride and image of our country and our community."

"I would not recommend visiting the city of Waterloo unless absolutely necessary. As a student here, I cannot wait to graduate and leave for good. The bylaw enforcement feels overly strict, seemingly targeting students and even senior citizens to collect fines. The speed cameras in 30 km/h zones feel more like a cash grab than a safety measure. This can also be said for having to register vehicles for overnight street parking and two hour time limits in public parking lots.
Where is all this money going? Certainly not toward repairing the numerous potholes or improving infrastructure. The city feels rundown and is only getting worse. Overall, it leaves the impression of a place more interested in making money off residents than improving their quality of life."
Michael Maingot
"The City of Waterloo generally does a good job maintaining public infrastructure, but there are areas that need attention. Specifically, potholes on Weber Street and many other streets have been left unrepaired for an extended period, causing inconvenience and potential hazards for drivers and can cause accidents. Given that the City owns multiple equipment units like snow plows, salters, and hot boxes for pothole repairs, and has full access to trained city staff, timely maintenance should be more consistent.
Additionally, sidewalks and roads need to be cleared of snow more promptly to ensure safe passage for pedestrians and drivers during the winter months. With the resources available, we hope to see improvements in these areas to maintain the high standards the City is known for."
