Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Ontario Black History Society for its incredible depth of history and the exceptional knowledge of its staff, particularly highlighting guided tours. While some donors have noted communication challenges regarding donations, the overall sentiment is that the Society is an invaluable resource for uncovering and amplifying Black Canadian heritage.

"I have worked hard for the little money I possess so when I make a charity donation I appreciate getting an acknowledgement from the charity. This is not the case with this charity.
I send my donations via an agency to avoid getting repeated requests as when donations are sent directly. Although the agency in question confirms sending out the donations, I like to periodically check with the recipient charities. I contacted this charity and asked if the funds were received. A cryptic response was received asking for more information about the donating agency. I provided a brief outline and advised them to Google the name of the agency if they needed more information. I have not heard back from this charity regarding my original question.
The outcome of the above is that I will not be making any future donations to this charity.
As I have statement elsewhere, a charity that can’t/or won’t respond a simple request for information will not solicit my trust to support them in the future."

"Outstanding. I went on a tour with Pamela and learned so much about the ward and our Canadian black heritage. Both Pamela and Michelle were exceptional in sharing their time, resources and knowledge with me. It was an entirely incredible day. I was doing research on Vilola Desmond, these two ladies shared so much information with me. They were so helpful."
