Reviews Summary
Cafe Diplomatico is a beloved Toronto institution, praised for its lively patio, generous portions, and friendly service. While some find the pizza good but not exceptional, the pasta dishes and overall value receive high marks. The authentic Italian atmosphere and its role in local culture are consistently highlighted as major draws.
"Went to this emblematic cafe around 2 weeks ago.
I got the affogato, really good. Didn’t take a picture.
For starters, we had the meatballs with crostini, this was really good. The sauce was rich and the meatballs had great flavor too. I’d recommend adding the mozzarella for $2. The cheese pull was amazing.
For mains we ordered a pizza and allá vodka pasta. The pizza was good, but nothing crazy good in my opinion. In the other hand, the pasta was really good, really enjoyed it!
We had the cheesecake of the day and the Sicilian crepe for desserts. The cheesecake was good, the crepe was not my favorite:)
I have to mention the service was indeed amazing!
Definitely coming back"

"Met up with a group of three at Cafe Diplomatico to catch the Blue Jays game—it was a full house, so we ended up sitting indoors, though their patio is hands down the best spot. Still, it was really enjoyable with great TV setups for watching the match. I went with the tomato seafood pasta on the waiter’s recommendation, and it didn’t disappoint. The place was buzzing, but the staff were super friendly and helpful throughout. Portions are huge—I had to share nearly half my pasta with a friend, especially since they serve free bread that’s fresh and tasty. Prices are reasonable too, around twenty-something for everything. Definitely coming back for the next game!"

"Food was delicious! Friendly and pleasant servers who really seem to love their work. It was quite a snow storm and they brought our hot tea right out with quick refills of hot water. Just loved the old school feel of authentic Italian food and atmosphere. We’ll be back! ❤️🇮🇹🍝🍕"
