What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests consistently praise the Algonquin Resort's historic charm, stunning bay views, and friendly staff, making it a memorable New Brunswick gem. While the dining and atmosphere are often highlighted positively, some visitors note that rooms in older sections can be small, and certain amenities like the kid zone may need updates. Despite minor drawbacks, many consider it a worthwhile stay for its unique character and location.
"Had a fabulous two night stay at the historic Algonquin! The front desk staff were quick and efficient during check-in. Our room was located in the older part of the hotel, was nicely decorated, however a little smaller then we are use to. Our only complaint was the electrical cords that were awkwardly placed and should be better hidden for safety sake. The Pub was a great place for our dinner plans and included live music. The Special dinner choice was amazing!! We took advantage of the fitness room as well as the pool and hottub! The hot tub was a perfect temperature! HOT! We didn't eat in the dining room, so can't comment. The hotel and grounds were emmaculately clean and well lt. It is located a short walk/drive to center of St Andrews. Highly recommend!"

"This property has a gorgeous exterior and a great lobby/restaurant. Service was good. Breakfast was delicious. Our room however, left us scratching our heads in confusion. First, we are lifetime Platinum with Marriott, but we were placed in a small room. The hotel wasn’t busy, so we wonder why we weren’t upgraded to a nicer room. We had our daughter with us, so we were charged $25 for a roll-away bed (refunded) that was terribly uncomfortable until a nice guy brought us three blankets to help provide some cushion as they didn’t have toppers. The lack of sound insulation in our room was almost comical. We could clearly hear guests on both side of our room speaking at normal volume. Imagine having your neighbor commenting on your morning poop? Yes, that really happened . . in an Autograph Collection property!! We were charged a resort fee, but the pool wasn’t special and the kid zone was a bit creepy with broken equipment and missing game parts like an incomplete billiard table. I wouldn’t return to this property or recommend it to others for the price-point."

First time visiting in the winter so wasn't quite as busy as usual which made it nice and cozy and quiet. Really enjoyed the Christmas decorations they had out."
