Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Nisga'a Memorial Lava Bed Park's stunning volcanic landscapes and peaceful, well-maintained campsites. The reasonable camping fees and the unique cultural history add significant value. While amenities are basic, the natural beauty and tranquility are unparalleled.

"This is a fantastic park. It may not have all the higher level ameneties such as showers or flush toilets, but it does everything else exceptionally well.

For starters, there is a staffed house at the front that also serves as an info center. They have guided tours of the Volcano for a very reasonable price, provided you are strong enough for the hike. If you need transport to the trail head you can get that too!

The road in the park is also paved. This is a huge plus. It quiets all traffic vs dirt and makes it easier to navigate. There's no low hanging branches. The road sides are well groomed with drainage. The individual sites are extremely well spaced. Nearby Prudhomme tries to cram 24 plots into a smaller park than this one, which only has 18.

The distance up a dead end road also keeps things quiet. There's ample tourism for sure, as there should be in this gorgeous landscape with rich history, but it's never too much. There's no city traffic. No weekenders partying late. No groan inducing situations. People clearly make an effort to come here and experience the place. The wind spirit still lives here too. Look for it and you may notice it.

There's also excellent cell signal here from the nearby settlement. All of this for just $20 a night. This is one of the better BC parks in the province. Don't overlook it."

Chris Call

"Beautiful campsites, near to the lava beds. About 16 sites, all suitable for tent or small to moderate sized trailers/RVs.

Some interesting information about the Nisga'a people and the historical lava flow/eruption available.

Multiple outhouses and one water pump (recommended to boil water). Beautiful sites, lots of Aspen nearby where the breeze coming through the leaves is quite pleasing. Very quiet, no road/highway noise.

Would definitely recommend!"

"Beautiful setting, luxurious flora, but, at the time in early June, far too many tent caterpillars!"
