Mystic Beach is widely praised for its stunning natural beauty, featuring a unique waterfall, sea caves, and dramatic cliffs, all accessible via a scenic rainforest hike. While the trail can be challenging with roots and stairs, most visitors find the effort well worth the breathtaking coastal views. Some note that the waterfall's flow can be minimal in summer.
"Excellent beach! Well worth the hike! Great views of sea caves, sea cliffs, waterfalls, and sand and rock beaches! Some of the stairs and paths are in a state of disrepair, and if you go I suggest parking at Pete wolf creek pull out and cutting off a km of forest hiking!"

"Mystic Beach in Juan de Fuca is truly worth the visit! The walking trail leading to the beach is beautiful and takes about 30–45 minutes depending on your pace. It’s an easy and enjoyable hike from point to point, making it perfect for all levels. We went during the summer, so the waterfall wasn’t flowing as much, but the spot was still stunning and peaceful.
One thing to note: the directions on Google Maps are a bit misleading, as it drops you off in the middle of the main highway. The correct way is to head to China Beach and park in the first parking area on your right. From there, you’ll see a small signage pointing you toward Mystic Beach.
A hidden gem with gorgeous views—I’d definitely recommend it!"

"2km hike from China Beach day parking. Parking may be full, park on the highway where you can. Hike is moderate at worst, more uphill on the way back and roots to avoid most of the way. Beach is nice, cliff is the attraction for Mystic over the other beaches nearby. Worth the drive and hike."

Pack plenty of snacks and water, and ensure everyone wears sturdy, closed-toe shoes with good grip. The beach itself offers space for exploration, but supervision is key due to the ocean and rocky areas. While the waterfall is a highlight, its flow might be minimal in summer, so manage expectations. The overall experience can be rewarding, but be prepared for the physical demands of the trail.
🚶♀️ Day-Trippers
Allocate at least 2-3 hours for your visit, including the hike, time to explore the beach, sea caves, and waterfall, and the return journey. The trail is well-marked, but the terrain requires attention to avoid tripping. It's advisable to wear sturdy hiking boots with good grip, as the roots can be slippery, especially after rain.
For those with young children or mobility concerns, the hike can be challenging. One Reddit user mentioned taking a 2-year-old, noting the significant number of exposed roots and the uphill climb on the way back. Planning for breaks and assessing the trail conditions beforehand is recommended.
Mystic Beach's Natural Wonders

Visitors often describe the overall atmosphere as stunning and peaceful, despite the hike required to reach it.
