What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Magnetic Hill Concert Site for its efficiency in handling large crowds and its suitability for major concerts. The venue is considered excellent for taking in a show, with quick entry and exit processes. However, attendees should be prepared for potential mud if it rains and the considerable walk from parking or shuttle points.
"I've been to multiple concerts at this location and every time entrance and exits have been quick and efficient - even for a crowd of 80000. I'm reviewing the grounds and location, not the typical pricey concert food and merch. This is an excellent place to take in a show. Gets very muddy and water logged with a little rain however. Parking can end up being quite a distance from here but there are usually shuttles and buses running for events. Typically, the entire street from the Trans Canada to the concert site is closed during event times."

"More a review of the site. This is not a site that can truly handle a mega concert. I typically avoid crowds but wanted to see U2 here. Parking , there is no parking at the site for a crowd like it was. Now this was a 'known' and we used a shuttle service. But it added to the inconvenience. The walk from the shuttle site to the venue was quite a hike, and the 'shuttle site' was really that you were dropped off on the side of a secondary road. The site is a field. If it is wet at all be prepared for it to turn into a mud fest. For a crowd of 10,000 or maybe 15,000 might not be too bad. If you contrast this experience to seeing a concert in a venue meant to handle the crowd the experience is so much better."

"Saw AC/DC on Sept 5. This review is for the venue, not the band(which was 5/5 as well). Fantastic venue, well planned and well equipped. No long lines for anything except band merchandise. Be warned, it is a long hike in and out, but if that's not an issue, you gotta see a show here. Great site."

The Magnetic Hill Phenomenon
Many visitors combine a concert experience with a visit to the actual Magnetic Hill. The illusion is a fun, albeit debated, experience that adds a unique layer to the Moncton visit. While the concert site itself doesn't utilize this phenomenon, its proximity makes it a notable feature of the area.
It's important to note that the 'magic' of Magnetic Hill is an optical illusion, not actual magnetic force. The landscape is designed to trick the eye, making a slight downhill slope appear to be an uphill one. This has been a popular tourist draw for years, offering a lighthearted and memorable experience.
Concert Experience: What to Expect
However, the venue's open-field nature means it's highly susceptible to weather conditions. Heavy rain can transform the grounds into a muddy, waterlogged area, so waterproof footwear is strongly advised. Attendees should also be prepared for a significant walk from parking areas or shuttle drop-off points to the main stage.
Despite these challenges, the site is praised as an excellent location for taking in a show, with many appreciating the well-planned and equipped setup for concerts. The experience is often described as fantastic, provided one is prepared for the elements and the walk.
Moncton Concert Scene & the Venue
Despite these perceptions, the Magnetic Hill Concert Site is a significant venue capable of hosting large-scale events. Its history dates back to Pope John Paul II's visit in 1984, and it has since evolved into a premier destination for concerts and festivals.
When major artists do perform, the venue offers a unique outdoor concert experience. The key is to be well-prepared for the conditions and logistics, ensuring a memorable musical event.
