What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Skoki Lodge offers a truly unique and memorable backcountry experience, praised for its stunning location, gourmet food, and friendly staff. While the rustic accommodations and lack of modern amenities are part of its charm, some guests find the outhouses to be a significant drawback, and the overall cost can be perceived as high for the facilities provided.
"Spent a fantastic 2 night stay at Skoki Lodge. It took about 4 hours to hike in at a leisurely pace, stopping for photos and lunch.
A fab warm welcome by Dan and team before mtg other guests and enjoying a cheese platter and soup around 4 pm.
Dinner was amazing cooked by chef Victor, catering for all dietary needs.
Hiked Skoki mountain the next morning and Merlin Lake in the afternoon.
Hiked out via Packers Pass - great route description and directions from Eden.
Amazing location and made to feel so welcome by the great team of staff."

"This was our third winter stay at this place, which reflects our enthusiasm for this lodge. The food, the service, friendliness, and the rustic character of this place are the highlights. Also the camaraderie with the people who stay there and where new friendships are formed. The staff, composed of motivated young people, is absolutely fantastic. Okay, the restrooms are rustic (outdoors) but that's part of the backcountry experience. Makes you appreciate running water...If you can't tolerate the noise in the main lodge, you can rent a cabin. We were so tired anyway after the day that nothing could have kept us from sleeping. For us, we prefer the main lodge, where you can sit and enjoy the fire with a good glass of wine and a book, without the need to go outside at -25°C to get to your cabin...:-)
The lack of internet and communications are two other factors that militate for a stay at this lodge. Of course, you will have to cover 11 km and two passes (Boulder Pass and Deception Pass) on skis (or snowshoes) from the Lake Louise ski station. You just have to pace yourself and be well prepared. Boulder Pass is very easy. Deception Pass is more difficult but offers great opportunities for alpine touring. Last week, the outing was somewhat demanding because of the gusts of wind and abundant snow. But it makes us appreciate the shower and the warmth when we return home."

"My husband and I booked Skoki for three nights. The staff were super helpful and overall just lovely people. Food was really good as well. The lodge is super rustic and simple but beautiful, the rooms were comfortable but there is 0 sound proofing. You can hear absolutely everything including other people snoring in their rooms. They did offer ear plugs for this reason. The one major issue we had was that the outhouses were absolutely disgusting. No one likes an outhouse but these looked like they had not been cleaned / emptied ever. The smell made you want to vomit. A number of people got really sick while we attended and I can only imagine the outhouses had a lot to do with it. I think over all for the money it’s a bit overpriced in terms of accommodation / cleanliness/ facilities. Cool experience but you could probably find a similar back country lodge with much nicer amenities."
