Reviews Summary

Visitors appreciate the natural beauty of Pigeon River Headwaters, particularly the scenic marsh boardwalk and the presence of wildflowers and streams. The peaceful atmosphere and dog-friendly trails are also highlights. However, the challenging and poorly maintained access road is a significant drawback for many, and some boardwalk sections show signs of wear.

"It was a little early in the season when we visited, so it was a bit wet. I definitely recommend boots. But the trails are well maintained and are absolutely gorgeous. There are a few rotten/missing planks along the Boardwalk so keep hold of little ones. Entance road is a bit rocky."

"always a great time going for a walk through here. Would be nice for biking as well. My friend brings her dog and the dog loves exploring along the trails too. Nice distance, takes about an hour to get through the full loop. Boardwalks say they’re out of commission but are functional as of now (Sept 2023). Beautiful wildflowers, river and streams, chickadees and other wildlife. Bit of a rough road getting there by Grey road so take an bigger more durable vehicle if you can."

Jenn Cardona

"Very nice hiking trail with a long boardwalk section through a marsh. Very happy to see the small bridge over the creek has been completely replaced, and you can complete the entire 'Orange Trail' loop. The access road, Gray Rd is unassumed and has a lot of potholes at the start but gets a little better further down. The road in past the conservation's entrance is usually kept in good shape. I made it down to the parking lot no problem in a sedan, taking it slow."

Beyond the boardwalks, the area is also home to the river and various streams, adding to the tranquil ambiance.
