If you’ve never heard of Sleeping Giant Provincial Park…welp - now you have! This is absolutely THE best viewpoint I have ever seen on any hike I’ve ever done in Ontario! 🥾 Top of the Giant Hike : This out-and-back hike is a total of 22km, and isn’t for the faint of heart! The first 7kms are well maintained flat ground, but the rest of the way is UP! It takes about an average of 6-8 hours to compl...

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the peacefulness and stunning natural beauty of Hurkett Cove Conservation Area, particularly its suitability for birdwatching and photography. Many appreciate the secluded atmosphere and the beautiful sunset views directly from the parking lot. Some note that bird activity can vary seasonally, and recommend bringing personal supplies for the outhouses.

"Great spot for watching the sunset, with a beautiful view right from the parking lot. We had the place entirely to ourselves and didn’t purchase any pass, as there was no one else around and no info booth. We took a 15-minute hike to the bird-watching area, but unfortunately, there weren’t any birds—probably because it’s early August and they’ve already migrated south."

SUSAN LE

"Had a lovely picnic there with friends. Planned ahead for a sunny day during the early week so we just about had the place to ourselves. Watch the trumpeterswans, a flock of pelicans and various species of shore birds and waterfowl. Well kept and equipped park. Next time I will remember to bring my own TP and some disinfecting wipes for outhouse use when outhers don't clean up after themselves.
Totally enjoyed the peacefulness with the sound of the birds."

Linda Brown

"Had the entire place to myself. Beautiful spot. Secluded. The hike to the point was well worth it! Gorgeous flowers everywhere. And lots of birds. Great spot if you've got a photographers eye for nature!"
