Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Queen Elizabeth Park for its stunning city skyline views, especially at sunset, and its peaceful atmosphere. The well-maintained trails connecting to the river valley are a major highlight, offering ample opportunities for walks and exploration. While it's a popular spot for events like Canada Day fireworks, the park generally offers a serene escape within the city.

"I spent a few hours wandering around Queen Elizabeth Park in Edmonton and really enjoyed it. It’s such a peaceful spot tucked right by the river, with lots of open green space, trails, and beautiful views of the city skyline and the North Saskatchewan River.

I loved how easy it was to just relax there — there are plenty of picnic tables and benches, plus big grassy areas that are perfect for just laying out a blanket and hanging out. The walking trails are well-kept and connect nicely to other parts of the river valley, so you can make your walk as short or long as you like.

One of my favorite parts was the lookout point — the view over the Walterdale Bridge and downtown is so good, especially around sunset when the light hits the city just right. There are also some nice art installations and little signs about the history and natural features of the park, which were interesting to stop and read along the way.

It felt safe and clean, and there were a few other people around jogging, walking dogs, or having family picnics, but it didn’t feel crowded at all. There’s a small parking area that was convenient, and it’s also really close if you’re walking from downtown or biking the river valley trails.

A few tips:
• Bring a snack or coffee and just take your time — it’s a great spot to unwind.
• If you like photography, go near sunset — the views of the bridge and city are amazing then.
• Lots of connecting paths, so wear comfy shoes if you want to explore more of the area.
• Watch for birds — I saw quite a few songbirds and a couple of magpies hanging out in the trees.

Overall, Queen Elizabeth Park is one of those places that makes you appreciate how much green space Edmonton has. It’s calm, pretty, and easy to get to — definitely worth a visit if you want a break from the city without actually leaving it. I’ll be back for sure!"

"Queen Elizabeth Park is a hidden gem in the heart of Edmonton that offers a perfect blend of cityscape views, nature, and serenity. The park sits elevated along the south bank of the North Saskatchewan River, offering sweeping panoramic views of downtown Edmonton, the iconic Walterdale Bridge, and the Alberta Legislature. As seen in the photos, the combination of dramatic skies, lush greenery, and the graceful white arch of the bridge creates an almost cinematic backdrop—especially during the golden hour.

The open green spaces are ideal for picnics, casual sports, and group gatherings, as shown by the various clusters of people enjoying the field. The gently sloped hills add dimension and offer perfect vantage points for photography or quiet contemplation. The paths are well-maintained and accessible, making it a pleasant walk for both casual visitors and serious joggers.

Whether you’re a visitor looking to explore Edmonton’s natural beauty or a local seeking a peaceful retreat, Queen Elizabeth Park is well worth the visit."

"Started the trail at Nellie McClung Park and walked around the river valley, saw lots of rich people houses, kept going until we reached Walterdale Hill. Loads of walking/biking trails and scenic."
