What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Blackstrap Provincial Park for its beautiful scenery, family-friendly atmosphere, and convenient proximity to Saskatoon. The glamping options are a unique highlight. However, some find the booking fees high and fishing conditions challenging due to vegetation.
"Beautiful place, great to spend the day with the family for a picnic/BBQ and a day at the beach. There are very clean and well maintained indoor washroom and shower facilities available. Great spot for camping if you don't want to drive too far. Fishing was not to good as there is too much shrubbery causing the lines to get constantly tangled. Fishing areas could use some improvement. Otherwise a beautiful place to get away from the city buzz."

"I really enjoyed stopping here for 2 nights. The pitch was good and pretty level with picnic bench & BBQ/Firepit. There are a couple of trails we went walking along and with Merlin, identified so many birds, taking photos of quite a few in the scrubby woodland dotted around the meadows. We did get the downside of this with around a dozen dog ticks, but worth it especially for the birds. The lake was also quite pretty especially the first morning when it was mirror-like. They'd just finished a new wasroom block, which was beautiful, but oddly sparce of toilets, urinals and showers for the huge amount of space. It was like a high end boutique with a lot of floor and not much stuff. The showers were free and hot though. The 2 things I've marked it down for is the ridiculous $11 booking fee (we booked 1 night at Battleford and this added on $11 for that too). If we knew it was relatively empty, we could have avoided it altogether. The other thing is in the Email receipt in the Note section, there was nothing about the fact you cannot enter the site from the south and we came from the south. Google maps took us on a pac man journey around small stoned farm roads with each way to the park blocked and locked by a Parks gate. So we arrived much later than we should have. When we mentioned this to staff at the office on the last morning, they said they couldn't change it as it was run in America. Pfffff to that I thought. Change those and it'd be 5 stars."

"It’s beautiful place to visit in summer 😍😍specially for one who likes calm place nd calm clean water. Yes there’s a lot of mosquitoes but it’s common 😅 take your bug spray nd enjoy sunny day. Has also enough benches to sit. Also it’s very close to Saskatoon just take 25 min to reach and spend a day or good for camping."
