What Travellers Say

Guests consistently praise The Great George for its prime location, historic charm, and excellent value, particularly the complimentary breakfast and weekday happy hour. However, some visitors have noted that certain rooms in the older buildings could benefit from updates, with occasional issues regarding noise or decor. Despite minor drawbacks, the friendly staff and unique atmosphere make it a highly recommended stay for exploring Charlottetown.
"What a fabulous hotel
Lovely in its quirky lay out

We got happy hr 5 - 6 pm free drinks
Breakie complimentary
We opted for no clean the next day . They give £10 toward your next visit to their chain
We won't be doing that as fully booked on our nova scotia experience.
But they gave me coffee capsules for the next day , so thats brilliant 👏"

"Great location for visiting Charlottetown. Short walk to the waterfront and other points of interest, close to tons of restaurants/bars/shops. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Beautiful historical buildings to stay in. Loved our room on the top floor of The Hughes House, it had a lovely deck patio, large kitchen and living room, and even had an in room washer and dryer. Would be great for a long stay. Free continental breakfast had a good selection, and the evening happy hour was nice as well, with a free beer, wine, and seltzer selection. Highly recommended a stay!!"

"My friends and I had an amazing stay at the Great George for a girlfriend’s long weekend. We stayed in the four bedroom house, which was perfect for us. Large living room, well stocked kitchen (including a dish washer, and washer and dryer) and two bathrooms. There’s even a great little patio with furniture for sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful weather and flowers.
The beds are very comfortable with lovely linens and everything was sparkling clean. Although the house is across the street from the main in, there is still a daily housekeeping service. Breakfast is also included – the employees are so friendly, and the breakfast selection is large with both hot and cold items, a great way to start your day!
The ‘happy hour’ offered during the week days, was absolutely wonderful because of the great “Sam” he is such an asset to your team – he was so very kind and generous to all of us girls, and so lovely to us throughout our stay. All of the employees on the team were wonderful, but Sam stands out – we all hope to see you when we return next year (because we’ve already booked again).
The Inn is located in an area which is very close to all the great restaurants and a 5 minute stroll to the waterfront, with more shops and restaurants and a great floating dock/bar area.
I first started staying at the Great George over 30 years ago when travelling on business, and the addition of all the separate units surrounding the main are wonderful – this is a gem in Charlottetown and I highly recommend staying here, you will not be disappointed!"
