Looking at taking this on next year, but would like some advice/tips from someone who has done it. I'm in a '22 4runner TRD Off Road with Toyo Open Country AT3s. No lift. Is this route doable with what I've got? I'm looking at doing this in July of '25. Initial planning…

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently rave about the absolutely stunning panoramic views from the summit of Canoe Mountain, calling it a must-do. However, the journey up is a significant challenge, with the road described as very rough and rocky, requiring a high clearance 4x4 vehicle. Some find the drive arduous, but most agree the breathtaking scenery at the top makes it entirely worth the effort. Reddit

"So cool. A must do. 8,688ft road is rough. Dress warm."

Ryan Rexin

"Panoramic view on op of the peak. Road is roughly. Definitely need a high clearance 4x4 and better tires."

Vic L

"Labeled on a map as “Canoe Mountain Road” I guess I expected a bit more of an actual “road” to be driven....lol. The trail up is more like a dried up creek bed where all of the fines have been washed away; leaving nothing more then miles of rocks on each switch-back to climb up!

The drive up is not really difficult but it is anything but smooth and will take a couple of hours. Granted when you do reach the summit you will enjoy a spectacular view and some much cooler fresh air!

The drive down goes much faster but the trail does have a lot of traffic and we passed a couple larger groups of 10+ machines. Some more adventurous folks brought up their jeeps and smaller 4x4 trucks which are not as easy to pass!

We had fun and everyone we saw or talked to were happy to be out and enjoying the scenery! COVID-19 was nowhere to be found in the trees or on the mountain side!

Be kind and enjoy!"
