Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the West Gate for its serene atmosphere, beautiful sunset views, and excellent photographic opportunities due to its lack of crowds. While some note its more run-down condition compared to other gates, many appreciate its ancient, authentic feel and the peaceful escape it offers from the usual tourist hustle.

"This spot is perfect for unwinding and soaking in the scenery. It's a peaceful and serene location where you can catch a beautiful sunset. If you're biking around the Angkor Wat ruins, this is definitely worth a stop. Many locals enjoy taking their pre-wedding photos here. Since it's not located on a busy road, you won't encounter much traffic or crowds, making it a lovely retreat for those who work in the area."

"The West Gate is one of the least visited gates of Angkor Thom. Only the Gate of the Dead seemed less crowded on the times that I visited. This makes it easier to snap a nice photo without having to worry about getting run over by cars, buses, or tuk tuks.

The condition of this gate is a little more run-down than the more well-known and oft-visited gates, and the balustrades along the road are largely in ruins. But this gate has a more ancient, ruined feel to it, and the views of the moat are fabulous around sunset.

Not one of the places you're likely to see on a standard tour, but it is a mere 5 minute detour from Bayon, so if you have the time, I'd recommend it."

"Really quite gate and beautiful once, stop by and take some pictures, as you can see the greatest of the stone. Really love this gate so much."
