About the Balabanov House Origins & Ownership Built in the early 19th century for Hadzhi Panayot Lampsha, a wealthy merchant and usurer, member of Plovdiv’s tailors’ guild. It later passed to Hristo Gerov (nephew of Enlightenment figure Nayden Gerov) and ultimately to Luka Balabanov, a timber merchant—whose name the house still bears #pinoyinspain #europe #travel #highlights #follower #plovdivbul...

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Balabanov House for its well-preserved 19th-century interiors and stunning Revival Period architecture, particularly the intricate wood-carved ceilings. The house's excellent condition and its role as a venue for modern art exhibitions are also noted. Some find the integration of contemporary art with historical elements to be a mixed experience.

"This house is one of the cites from combined city tour.
Nice big house, first and second floors are full of a furniture of 19th century.
The basement contains exhibition of modern art.
Toilet at the second floor is in excellent condition.
You can pass to Hindliyan house through the courtyard (another one from the city tour)."

Sokolov Alexey

"Amazing place, home to many art evens. The house itself is a world heritage, protected by UNESCO. Pay special attention to the wood carved ceilings."

Irina Ivanova

"The house is not the original one from the beginning of the 19th century, since that was demolished, but a faithful reconstruction from 1935 based in every detail on the original plans. This probably explains the great shape the house is in. Typical for the Revival Period in Bulgaria, my personal favourite were the wooden ceilings, fine Ottoman style. The only thing I didn't like is that the house is now used to host temporary art galleries in an attempt to mix the old with the new with mixed results in my opinion"
