Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Tsari Mali Grad for its well-preserved ancient fortress and rich historical significance, offering a fascinating glimpse into past empires. The panoramic views and picnic-friendly atmosphere are also highlights, making it a great spot for families and history enthusiasts. However, some visitors have noted issues with limited amenities, particularly the reliance on cash and occasional unreliability of the funicular.

"The place is very interesting for all Bulgarians and other people to learn the history of all the empires that passed through the area. Good for family and group visit."

Georgi Georgiev

"This is a very well preserved ancient fortress. Perched on a key mount with a great view, it's a very well developed site with a pleasant walk to it, but you can also take a funicular up the hill. The museum itself is half open, half enclosed in some of the rebuilt towers, displaying different artefacts from its various heights. There are several bigger objects, mainly a trebuchet, a ballista and a Thracian chariot. It's a really nice place to visit, as weall as a great picnic spot!"

Alexander Syarov

"We went up the very steep hill, my gf needed something to drink. The soda machine only takes cash so I asked the lady at the register wether we could pay her with cash and she could give us the money in cash. She refused. Considering the heavy sun and steep hills a no go in my opinion, what if someone collapses? Very unfriendly."
