What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Brunei Waterfront for its serene atmosphere and stunning views, particularly of Kampong Ayer during sunset. The availability of affordable river tours to explore the water village and spot wildlife is a major highlight. Some find Kampong Ayer itself more of a residential area than a tourist attraction, but the overall experience of the waterfront and river exploration is highly recommended.
"The waterfront is exactly what you would expect. Nice view over the river. Lots of boatman around that are willing to take you to the monkeys. We made a deal for $30 for two people for a short tour. Maybe we got a good deal because the sun was getting low already? Anyway, nice and calm boat ride to the monkeys. They were quite easy to spot. We also say a crocodile! On the way back we tour a detour through the floating village. Interesting place for sure!"

"We actually wanted to go the Kampong across the river and we thought that the boats parked along this river will bring us there but instead we were talked into a river tour that costs 30 Brunei dollars.
The entire experience was not bad as the boat driver explained every single land mark along the ride in English. We went to a mangrove area where there are a lot of moneys. There are also some colorful birds around and crocodile popping their head over shallow waters.
The boat ride also brings you around Kampong Ayer, we passed the photo spot that we initially wanted to go and surprisingly there are not much tourist there. I boat ride satisfied our need to visit the village as we got really close to the village and were treated to many nice views along the way as well.
I wonder why Kampong Ayer was recommended as a tourist spot, it felt like a residential area to me.

"Nice area for a walk by the river. Across is the water village and next to it the shopping mall and a mosque"
