Reviews Summary

Moreré Natural Pools are celebrated for their warm, transparent waters and unique figure-8 formations, offering a relaxing wading experience. However, many visitors note that the beauty can be diminished by significant crowds and the sheer number of tour boats, leading some to prefer more tranquil spots. The shallow nature of the pools makes them ideal for relaxation rather than swimming.

Barraca Morere is really nice"

"Beautiful but too crowded.

We took a boat trip (volta à ilha de boipeda) to Moreré. It's a beautiful spot, but the sheer number of boats makes it lose some of its charm. As a result, there weren't many fish until I grabbed some cookies :-).

But because of the crowds, I preferred the natural pools at Castelhanos. It's more peaceful, making you feel at one with nature."

R vd

Understanding the Tides at Moreré

The magic of Moreré Natural Pools is intrinsically linked to the ebb and flow of the tide. At high tide, the pools can completely disappear, blending into the vast expanse of the ocean. To witness their unique figure-8 shape and enjoy the shallow, warm waters, it is essential to plan your visit during low tide.Instagram

Checking local tide charts is crucial. Many visitors recommend arriving as early as possible during low tide to experience the pools before they become crowded with tour boats.Reddit This also ensures you have ample time to relax and explore the formations without feeling rushed. The shallow nature of the pools means they are more for wading and relaxing than for swimming, making the tide a critical factor for enjoyment.Reddit

Pro Tip: Some travelers suggest that even if the tide isn't perfectly low, the experience can still be worthwhile, especially if you're on a boat tour that includes other stops. However, for the quintessential Moreré experience, low tide is non-negotiable.

Navigating Boat Tours and Access

Accessing Moreré Natural Pools is almost exclusively done via boat tours originating from Boipeba Island. The most popular option is the 'Volta a Ilha' (Island Tour), a full-day excursion that showcases the best of Boipeba, with Moreré being a highlight.Reddit These tours typically include stops at other beautiful locations like Castelhanos Beach and Bainema Beach, offering a comprehensive island experience.

For those seeking a more personalized experience, private boat transfers can be arranged. Some visitors have found success negotiating prices for round trips from Cueira Beach, allowing for more flexibility in timing and duration at Moreré.Reddit It's important to note that the sea can be a bit rough when departing Boipeba, so if you're prone to seasickness, consider taking precautions.Reddit

When booking a tour, inquire about what's included. While some tours might offer snorkel rentals, it's highly recommended to bring your own gear to ensure availability and quality.Reddit Your belongings can typically be stored on the boat, so pack a dry bag if you have one.

Maximizing Your Visit: What to Bring and Do

To make the most of your trip to Moreré, packing smart is key. Beyond the usual beach essentials like sunscreen and a hat, don't forget your snorkel and mask.Reddit While some tours might offer them, having your own ensures a better fit and availability. A GoPro with a dome port can also be a fantastic addition for capturing unique underwater and split-level shots.Reddit

Once you arrive, embrace the relaxed atmosphere. The warm, clear waters are perfect for wading and simply enjoying the scenery. While not ideal for swimming laps, the shallow pools offer a unique opportunity to sit, relax, and soak in the natural beauty.Reddit If your tour includes it, a ride on a Hawaiian canoe offers a different perspective of the tranquil waters.Instagram

Consider the food and drink options. Beach bars like Barraca Moreré offer refreshments and snacks, but prices can be higher due to the location.Reddit Bringing some of your own snacks and water is a good strategy to stay hydrated and manage your budget. Remember that the pools can disappear at high tide, so planning around the tide schedule is paramount for the best experience.Instagram
