What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the absolutely stunning, panoramic views of Rio de Janeiro, including Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain, and appreciate that it's a free attraction. However, many note that it can get very crowded, especially at sunset, and securing a ride back can be a significant challenge due to poor mobile signal.
"Beautiful lookout point with absolutely stunning views! It’s free to access, though it can get pretty crowded, especially around sunset. When we went, the tourist police were there which made it feel safe—just a heads up that sometimes people may try to charge you if they’re not around. Definitely worth a visit for the views!"

"Amazing view. Can go there by uber. Hard to finder a uber to leave (I waited mine for 30 minutes, and he was very unhappy when he arrived).
Free view point. You can stay about 30 minutes probably.
Not much people when I have been (about 2pm)."

"Beautiful view. My husband and I took an Uber up for sunset, even though the sunset wasn't great we still had a fun time . That is, until we tried to get an uber down. Very poor signal up top and ubers kept canceling on us. We ended up having to walk down (and even ran some of the time) we finally were able to get an uber at the bottom. It was a scary experience seeing that Rio isn't the safest place, but we made it ok and tipped our uber driver very well. We were so happy to see him lol. I highly recommend checking this place out, just make sure you have a ride back down ahead of time."

Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Consider visiting earlier in the day to avoid the largest crowds and potentially make the experience more relaxed for younger children. While there aren't specific child-focused amenities, the sheer visual spectacle of Rio spread out below is often engaging enough. Pack snacks and water, as options at the viewpoint are limited.
📸 Photography Enthusiasts
To maximize your photographic experience, aim for weekdays or early mornings to avoid crowds that can obstruct shots. Consider hiring a local guide who can also act as a photographer or knows the best angles and times for specific shots. Don't forget to bring extra batteries and memory cards – you'll want to capture every moment!
💰 Budget Travelers
The main cost consideration will be transportation to and from the viewpoint. Using ride-sharing apps like Uber can be relatively affordable, but the potential difficulty in securing a return ride might necessitate pre-planning or budgeting for a slightly more expensive taxi. Walking down can save money but requires time and energy.
