"Sua construção iniciou em 1904 e foi concluída em 1914. É uma das igrejas mais antigas do estado no estilo gótico.O altar-mor é procedente da Itália. Composto por três nichos, por influência dos padres capuchinhos franceses abriga no vão central a estátua de Nossa Senhora de Lourdes. Nos espaços laterais estão as imagens de São Pedro e São José, que deram origem às duas primeiras comunidades estabelecidas na atual cidade. Na nave ao lado esquerdo da Igreja Matriz repousam os restos mortais do Frei Salvador Pinzetta.
Ao lado da Igreja Matriz, o campanário com 55 metros de altura. Totalmente construído em basalto, foram utilizadas 11.122 pedras. Sua construção iniciou em 1946 e terminou em 1949."
