Y'all! Brazil has some cute little gems like Paraty, SP. Very old, empire dated city, where the water takes some of the downtown streets during high tides! Great place to eat and enjoy some music.
Been to Paraty in 2015 and absolutely loved it. Went to the Cachaça factory there and sampled some of the cachaça then went to visit one of first churches ever built - the walking sucked but it was never worth it

"We arrived here and were served by Alessandro. He immediately invited us to take part in the tour of the distillery and was very knowledgable about the way the cachaca is made. This tour is free and you get to try free samples. We bought small bottles from the shop at the end. Alessandro was a great host and even gave the tour in English which we found super helpful! Definitely recommend when in the area. You can get a local bus from Paraty bus station to Penha for R$5 per person."

"Great cachasa distillery where you get first class service. I and my boyfriend were lucky to get a guide at the place that was really into the thing. He explained to us something about the distillery itself, distillery process, different cachasa types, and were also able to try multiple cahcasa products that the place offers. All for free. We ended up buying some drinks from the shop, of course, but this whole experience was just great.
Everybody at this place speaks perfect English, which is not that common in Brazil. A thumb up for that!"

"Absolutely amazing team that make the whole experience. They talk you through the current and historic process, and it ends with extensive tasting - including teaching you how to drink cachaça. So many flavours, and coming from someone who doesn’t like the taste of alcohol, it was well worth the experience. Again however, it’s the people that make this. They are such a credit and make the whole experience so enjoyable. It felt like an adult school trip in all the best ways. They also have a great shop!"
