Reviews Summary

Visitors find Museo Universitario Charcas to be a compact yet worthwhile museum, particularly praised for its colonial religious art and the beautiful 1600s palace architecture. While some find the contemporary art section less compelling, the anthropological exhibits offer historical depth. The midday closure is a key point to plan around.

"A very nice museum. Not so big but has some interesting religious items. The building and the court yard is very lovely."

Jens Peter Olesen

"I visited Museo Colonial Charcas (30Bs) and Museo Antropologico (15Bs), they share the same building. The first one is mostly art; historical religious art, which is quite nicely set-up and has some minor translations into English as well, and more contemporary art; from around the 30's/50's and a very recently dated exhibition (though from a western point of view kind of amateuristic art to be in such a museum). In this museum you could not take any pictures. The second museum is quite interesting as it shows historic objects from different periods. In the first part of the museum there were English translations, even though they read like Google translations. You could take pictures without flash. The museum closes at midday."
