What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Reviews for St. George's Caye Resort are highly polarized. Many guests praise the exceptional service, amazing food, and intimate, adults-only atmosphere, calling it a 'trip of a lifetime.' However, some visitors feel the 'rustic' accommodations do not match the price point, describing them as more like 'fishing huts' and citing issues with maintenance and sargassum smell. [^Review]
"This place has great social media and photos that DOES NOT represent what is truly there. It not worth anymore than $150-200. It is not a resort , it’s more like fishing huts. The main Resort , check in is a wooden structure with no a/c and a small bar hut kind of thing. See pics for true picture of this place. It is not worth $600 plus. no where near what a $600 true resort should be. It is what it is and would have been perfectly fine at a much reduced price and honest advertising. Do not be fooled, go in the Caye Caulker or Raymond’s village in San Pedro. I’ve been to Belize many many times and trust me this is a scam. You will not avoid sargassum smell because their next door neighbor does not clean it up and the smell is horrible at the pool resort. the pool was not well kept with plaster peeling away all over the bottom."

"Absolutely amazing place. The owners were there and were extremely friendly and personable, got to talk with them and have a BBQ on the beach around a fire. Food was amazing, staff was very attentive and friendly as well. Bucket list items checked off the list, huts over water and scuba diving. I highly recommend this place!!"

"I would give 6 stars for the service if I could. That staff is amazing. Not a big resort, so you will dine with other groups. We loved that part. The other guests were fun to talk to and go on excursions with. The food is amazing, that is important because there are no other restaurants on the island. I've never been one to just stay at the resort and hang out. I love to explore. But there are lots of things to do if you just want to hang out at the resort. We will return next year. Also, not having kids around made it very relaxing"

Rustic Charm vs. Modern Luxury
Key aspects of the rustic charm include:
* Thatched-roof structures that blend with the natural environment.
* Overwater bungalows offering direct access to the sea.
* A focus on natural beauty and a simpler way of life.
While some guests find this charm incredibly appealing, leading to 'bucket list' experiences and a desire to return, others feel it doesn't align with the price point, suggesting it's more akin to basic accommodations than a luxury resort. [^Review] It's crucial for potential visitors to understand this distinction and decide if the rustic, intimate island vibe aligns with their vacation expectations.
