"Absolutely stunning. Upon walking in you’re taken back by the sheer elegance of this place. The roof being all windows makes this just amazing. Ended up doing some shopping at the embroidery store and then had a nice big coffee (pictured) at one of the cafes. It was so nice to sit and enjoy the people watching and just taking it all in. This was definitely a wonderful moment I wish I could have packaged up and taken home. If you’re in the area, make sure to check this out. Even if you’re just going to stroll through, this is a must. Very beautiful and highly recommend."

A Walk Through Architectural History
Beyond their aesthetic appeal, the galleries hold significant historical importance. They were a symbol of Brussels' prosperity and modernity during the mid-19th century. Notably, the Cinema UGC located within the galleries was the site of the very first public film screening in Belgium in 1896, hosted by the Lumière brothers. This makes the Galeries Royales a cradle of cinematic history in the country.
Today, the galleries continue to be a vibrant hub, blending historical charm with contemporary luxury. Visitors can explore the two main wings, the Galerie du Roi and the Galerie de la Reine, connected by a smaller central section. The experience is enhanced by the presence of historical plaques and occasional exhibitions that delve into the arcade's rich past, offering a deeper appreciation for its enduring legacy.

Here, you can indulge in the classic Brussels waffle, which is lighter and crispier than its Liège counterpart. The experience is elevated by the option to customize your waffle with a variety of delicious toppings, from whipped cream and fruit to decadent sauces and ice cream.
Beyond these iconic treats, the galleries also house charming cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy a coffee break or a more substantial meal. The atmosphere within the galleries enhances the dining experience, making it a perfect spot to relax and savor the flavors of Belgium.
