"So many wonderful delights in the Huidenvettersplein. Great shops for lace and chocolate, restaurants with pleasant outdoor seating in the courtyard, even a statue reminiscent of a mercat cross. Beautiful, historic, iconic area of incredible Bruges.
I never did discover the identity of the extraordinary edifice across the canal, but it was breathtakingly beautiful and I simply have to include photos. One photo shows large numbers 1614 and I will assume that is the date of the construction.
The "corner" of the canal with the massive trees is quite possibly the most iconic view of all of Bruges. Such an incredible scene!"

"Huidenvettersplein is an atmospheric small square situated at the turn in Dijver Canal. The square dates back to the middle ages and was the site of leather processing until the 15th century. Today the square is lined with restaurants, many with outdoor seating, creating more of a courtyard feel to Huidenvettersplein. An interesting monument to see here is the very old stone column which is topped by the figure of two lions behind a shield.
Huidenvettersplein is located just a few minutes from important sightseeing areas of Markt and Burg Square. You can easily include a walk through the square while wandering this beautiful area of Bruges."

Capturing Bruges' Iconic Canals
For the best photographic results, aim for the golden hours – early morning or late afternoon. During these times, the light is softer, casting a warm glow over the city and minimizing harsh shadows. This also tends to be when crowds are thinner, allowing you to capture the serene beauty of the canals without too many distractions. A boat tour is also highly recommended, as it offers unique perspectives of the canals and the architecture from water level.
