It was built during the Pakistan period but it’s railway line was built during the British period. The station was designed by two architects, Daniel Dunham & Robert Boughey. Currently the station is getting a touch of modernity in its management. Tickets can be purchased online from home. Tickets vending machines have been installed at the station, scanners have been installed for security and the Uttara-Matijheel metro is being extended up to Kamolapur Railway Station. The station has drinking water facilities and public toilets. seating spaces for waiting passengers is insufficient compared to the requirements. About 50 million peoples travel using this station annually. There is car parking facilities and WheelChair accessibility. Railways are a national asset, let’s protect the national asset and keep the surrounding environment clean."
