What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Vienna Pass is highly praised for its value and the significant savings it offers, especially for those who plan to visit many attractions. Visitors appreciate the skip-the-line access and the opportunity to explore a wide range of sights, including palaces, museums, and the Danube Tower. However, some users find the included Hop-On Hop-Off bus service confusing, and it's important to note that public transport within the city is not covered.
"This pass is fantastic ! We were able to see a lot of places of interest like Castle Schönbrunn, Castle Belvedere, Danube canal shipping, Ferris wheel , Madame Tussaud , Imperial Crypt, imperial treasury , Sisi Museum and a lot more .
I have to buy my own ticket for tram and train cause it was not included thats why 1 star lesser ."

"Vienna Pass was the greatest benefit during my stay in Vienna. I had a 6-day pass and I had an extremely intense program. So when I counted, it turned out I saved about 300 euros, maybe even more. Not to mention Skip the Line thing in many museums where there is a line! Another good thing was that I had no regrets about visiting any museum or place because there were some I would have regretted spending money on (Josephinum, Ferris Wheel and Mozarthaus, for example). But for free they were fine. Another good thing was that I just popped into some smaller museums that I wouldn't have visited otherwise but they turned out to be really good (like Papyrus Museum and Globe and Esperanto Museum). Hop On Hop Off buses were awesome, especially Blue Line, such a great journey. I had no problem getting into Sisi Museum and Schönbrunn, I went in the morning but not early. There was some waiting time but not too much. In Schönbrunn you can only see State Apartments with Vienna Pass, which is quite little. But it was my own fault I didn't check it in more details. It's the most important thing: do your research, Vienna Pass has a very comprehensive site where everything is explained. If you want to visit just a few places, maybe Flexi Pass (also sold there) will be better for you. But if you want an intense program, Vienna Pass is a treasure."

"I would definitely recommend getting the Vienna Pass if you plan on doing a lot of sight seeing, gets you into all the main attractions free of charge plus great hop on/ off bus travel for the duration of your pass. We book 2 Day passes for 2 adults & 1 child for £260 for all 3 passes, when we sat down and worked out we saved £340 in admission fees if we had paid for each attraction separately. Would highly recommend."

Maximizing Your Vienna Pass Value
Many users report significant savings, with some estimating hundreds of euros saved on admission fees. The skip-the-line feature is a major perk, especially at popular sites like Schönbrunn and Hofburg Palace, where queues can be substantial. Don't shy away from smaller, lesser-known museums that are included; travelers often find these to be delightful surprises and a great way to experience more of Vienna's diverse cultural offerings.
Remember that the Vienna Pass is primarily for attraction entry. Public transportation within Vienna requires a separate ticket. While a Hop-On Hop-Off bus service is included, some visitors find it confusing to navigate. Planning your routes and understanding the bus stops in advance will enhance this experience. Ultimately, the Vienna Pass is a treasure for those ready for an intensive sightseeing program.
Navigating Vienna's Public Transport
The Vienna Pass does offer a Hop-On Hop-Off bus service, which can be a convenient way to get between major attractions. However, some travelers have found the maps and stop locations to be unclear, leading to frustration. It's advisable to download the bus company's app or study the route map carefully before you start your journey. Pay attention to the specific color of the buses associated with the Vienna Pass, as other tour bus companies operate in the city.
For those who prefer to walk, Vienna's city center is quite walkable, and many attractions are clustered together. This can be a great way to discover charming streets and hidden courtyards. If you opt for public transport, ensure your ticket is validated before boarding to avoid fines.
