St. Stephen’s Cathedral is the most famous church in Vienna. It was first built in 1137, then rebuilt in Gothic style after a fire in 1258. "An absolutely stunning piece of architecture in the heart of Vienna. The intricate details of the exterior, especially the patterned roof tiles and gothic spires, are breathtaking up close. Inside, the soaring ceilings, stone carvings, and artistic craftsmanship show the incredible skill and vision that went into building this masterpiece. A must-visit for anyone who appreciates history, design, and architectural beauty."

"A breathtaking masterpiece—St. Stephen’s Cathedral is the soul of Vienna. Its soaring Gothic spires, dazzling tiled roof, and awe-inspiring interior leave you speechless. Whether admired from the bustling square or explored within, it’s an unforgettable encounter with history, faith, and beauty.
We didn’t go inside but the view from outside was amazing."

Smita Patel

"A Must-See Cathedral in Vienna!
This is the most important and iconic cathedral in the city — absolutely massive and breathtaking. Entry to the main part is free, though some side sections require a small fee.
I highly recommend climbing to the top — it costs €6.50 and involves 343 steps. It may sound like a challenge, but it’s not as hard as it seems, and it’s totally worth it! The views over Vienna from the top are spectacular. There's also a small souvenir shop up there, which adds a nice touch to the experience.

There is an elevator on the other side if you prefer that, but many say the staircase side offers better views (I didn’t try the elevator myself). Plus, climbing up and down is a fun little workout.

Super recommended — a must-do in Vienna!"

Drone usage is generally restricted in densely populated urban areas like Vienna's city center, especially around historical landmarks. It's highly unlikely you'll be permitted to fly a drone near St. Stephen's Cathedral due to airspace regulations and safety concerns.

Golden hour, just after sunrise or before sunset, offers beautiful warm light that enhances the cathedral's Gothic architecture. Midday can be harsh, but the intricate details are still visible. Evening shots with the cathedral illuminated are also stunning. TikTok

Try shooting from slightly lower angles to emphasize the height of the spires. The intricate roof tiles are also a unique feature worth capturing from above. Don't forget to photograph the details of the gargoyles and stonework. Instagram

For the exterior, a wide-angle lens is useful to capture the scale. For interior shots, a lens with good low-light performance and a tripod (if allowed) will help. Consider shooting in RAW format to allow for more editing flexibility, especially for HDR shots of the skyline from the tower. Instagram
