What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
El Gaucho is celebrated for its exceptional Argentinian steaks, particularly the highly recommended 'King Steak,' served in a chic, modern setting. While many praise the quality of food and attentive service, some diners find the 2-hour table reservation time limit to be a bit rushed, and isolated incidents of poor service have been noted.
"We stumbled onto El Gaucho, but was pleasantly surprised! The king steak was amazing, ordered medium rare (it's on the rare side), with some sides! Super good steak. Went back and got the pepper steak, it was OK, would recommend the king steak over it.
Good drinks, good food, interesting wine, a bit of a language barrier on service."

"Loved this place! The service is very friendly and attentive, and the food is delicious. The steaks were cooked exactly as we ordered them, medium rare and still hot. They were tender, juicy, and full of flavor.
The atmosphere is great, and the waiters really take time to answer your questions.
There is a €5 cover charge per person, and while the prices are a bit higher, they are still bearable. In total we spent about €55 per person for our meal (with tips included). So pretty ok for a steakhouse I'd say."

"Booked online a dinner for 3 persons and the experience was good, calm, pleasant. We received a tasty appetizer on the house and ordered drinks and veal stake- customized quantities; in the menu you find 250 stake or 350 grams stake and it is so fair to know in advance what is going to be served on your plate. The stake was VERY GOOD and Daniel was very kind and showed us the wine options to pair with the meat so we had and EXCELLENT choice . Creme brulle was a nice surprize for desert. I will defenetly come back for the service and the meat. The interior of the restaurant is chic and modern."

The El Gaucho Steak Experience
The preparation methods emphasize bringing out the natural taste of the meat, often served with simple yet delicious accompaniments. While the focus is on steak, the restaurant also offers a selection of wines and other beverages to complement your meal. The overall dining experience aims to be a celebration of fine meat.
It's worth noting that while the steaks are a major draw, some reviews mention other dishes like the pepper steak being good, but the King Steak often takes the spotlight. The quality of the meat and the cooking execution are consistently highlighted as reasons for repeat visits.
Navigating Service and Ambiance
However, a recurring point in reviews is the 2-hour time limit imposed on tables. While this is a common practice in busy restaurants, some diners feel it creates a sense of urgency and can detract from a relaxed dining experience. Staff may remind guests about the time limit, which can feel pressured to some.
There have also been isolated reports of rude service or issues with billing, though these seem to be exceptions rather than the norm. It's advisable to double-check your bill and communicate any concerns politely. Despite these potential drawbacks, the overall consensus leans towards a positive dining experience, especially when the service is smooth and the time limit is managed well.
