What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Magdalensberg Archaeological Park for its historical significance, particularly its well-preserved Roman frescoes and mosaics, and the impressive collection of artifacts. The affordable ticket prices and the stunning panoramic views from the summit are also frequently highlighted as major draws. Some reviewers noted a lack of English literature in the museum store, but found the available map translations helpful.
"Fantastic place for people interested in history, especially in Celtic and Roman period. Big, free parking place and reasonably priced ticket fee. The whole complex is well organized with many artifacts and sites. Definitely plan to visit it in clear weather though.
The only downside I found, was the lack of literature and books in English language in the museum store. All museums in Austria outside of Vienna seem to suffer from this."

"This is an amazing museum, must-see!
I agree that there is a lack of literature in English, but you're still given a translation of the map (in English and in other languages, if you prefer).
Tickets are cheap (12€ for a family of four), and the sights are unforgettable. There are preserved frescoes that remember the beginning of our era (!!!), and Roman mosaics covering the floors of the bathhouse. Their state is much better and their volume is much bigger than in Carnuntum museum. This museum also hat a lot artifacts, such as cutlery, jewellery, tiles and stonemasontry, gravestone remains, etc.
I recommend having lunch at the Celtic Tavern after your visit. The prices are nice (3€ for goulash soup, 10€ for a wiener schnitzel, for example) and the dishes are tasty.
Also, if you travel a bit higher, you can see a magnificent scenery opening from the top of the mountain."
