Zoo Schmiding & Aquazoo offers a pleasant family outing with a highly praised museum and diverse animal exhibits. While some find it pricey and note areas for improvement in zoo upkeep and playgrounds, the overall experience is positive, especially for children who enjoy the play areas and the educational journey through the Aquazoo.

"It is was a very pleasant discovery for us, that just 30 min from Linz such a big and diverse zoo is, also with an interesting museum and very beautiful surrounding. For children are a lot of places to discover and play. Totally recommend it"

Irina Potinga

"The museum is impressive. Very informative and nice designed. You can travel trough the human evolution until to the future. The zoo itself is quite good but could be have more space for the animals as well as could be more cleaner. There are also some different playgrounds for the kids and in the middle there is a trampolin with a small restaurant."

Robert Kramreiter

"Costly but really much to see. The Zoo itself is some kind of ancient. The restaurant in the middle of the Zoo is not recommendable. High prices and the meals are lower than average. And the restaurant itself should get a renovation. The toilets are lower average. And why I rated this Zoo with only 3 stars is because of the wooden playground. It's very important for every Zoo to have a very safe playground. And this Zoo doesn't take care of its playground. It stays the same since years. It's in a really bad condition. But however the Zoo itself is fine. And the new museum there is really worth to be visited."

Animal Welfare and Zoo Facilities

Visitor feedback on the zoo's facilities and animal welfare presents a mixed picture. While many reviewers state that all animals seem to be taken care of very well and appreciate the natural habitats for species like giraffes, gorillas, and tigers, some express concerns.

Specific comments suggest that the zoo 'could have more space for the animals' and that certain areas 'could be more cleaner.' One recurring point of criticism is the wooden playground, which some visitors feel has been in the same, deteriorating condition for years and lacks adequate safety attention. This contrasts with the positive remarks about the overall zoo experience.

Despite these criticisms, the zoo is generally considered 'quite good' and 'beautiful.' The presence of diverse animals and the naturalistic approach to enclosures are appreciated. However, potential visitors should be aware that while the core animal experience is positive, some infrastructure aspects, particularly the playgrounds, may not meet everyone's expectations for modernity or upkeep.

The combination of a zoo and a comprehensive museum experience is often seen as a worthwhile investment for a full day of entertainment and education.
