What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Eisenstadt for its rich musical heritage centered around Joseph Haydn and Esterhazy Palace. The City Villa museum is a standout, lauded for its immersive 1950s/60s experience and engaging audio guides. The charming Altstadt adds to the town's appeal, with friendly staff enhancing the overall positive experience.
"Eisenstadt has a museum jewel richer! In addition to the many other attractions that Eisenstadt has to offer, the so-called city villa was recently opened. With great attention to detail and equipped with the latest technology, a doctor's villa from the 1950s was transformed into a unique museum! Elaborately restored, the city villa takes its visitors on a journey back in time to the 50s and 60s. As a small highlight, you can listen to the audio guide, for example, between the expert voice of a reporter, the humorous statements spoken in dialect by the housekeeper Mitzi or, for the kids, the house dog Dolly and be accompanied through the villa. The interactive displays provide detailed information about the respective room. A Salettl was built in the beautifully landscaped garden that fits seamlessly into the historic site including parts of the old Eisenstadt city wall. The Salettl can even be booked for private parties! The staff is extremely friendly and always eager to provide support. All in all, a successful addition to the numerous sights in Eisenstadt and definitely worth a visit. And not just for Burgenlanders, tourists too shouldn't miss this gem in the heart of Eisenstadt!"

"A truly worthwhile visit! The town villa in Eisenstadt is a true highlight – modern and designed with incredible attention to detail. I was particularly impressed by the audio guide: You can choose who guides you through the villa – this makes the journey through time not only varied but also very personal.
The exhibition is exciting and informative. You not only learn a lot about the lives of the villa's former residents, but also gain fascinating insights into everyday life in Eisenstadt at that time. The combination of historical flair and modern presentation is excellently done. A visit to the town villa is definitely worth it."
