What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Catseye Beach is praised for its stunning turquoise waters, calm conditions ideal for watersports and families, and the convenience of complimentary gear for hotel guests. While beautiful, some find the sand mixed with pebbles and the tide recedes significantly, revealing vast sand flats. Overall, it's a picturesque tropical escape with abundant marine life.
"One of those beaches that are amazing to look at but not the greatest to actually experience. The beach sand wasn’t as smooth and soft as you’d like and there were loads of pebbles. The tide goes out really far and you can walk very far out. Saw a few turtles and rays."

"This beach is beautiful, high tide is great for floating around, kayaking, paddle boarding and snorkelling no waves so great for kids. Low tide moves around 2 metres of water you can walk out a fare way. Lots of beach lounges to sit in the shade and there’s takeaway food just a minute walk.
If you are staying at the main hotels all beach equipment is included in your stay, show them your room card and write your name down."

Understanding Catseye Beach's Tides
Conversely, low tide at Catseye Beach reveals an astonishingly vast expanse of sand flats. The water recedes for hundreds of meters, allowing you to walk far out into what was previously the ocean. This phenomenon offers a unique perspective and a chance to explore the seabed, often revealing tidal pools and marine life. It's an ideal time for leisurely strolls and appreciating the sheer scale of the bay. Always check the local tide charts to plan your day effectively and maximize your enjoyment of both high and low tide experiences.
Planning Around the Tides
To make the most of Catseye Beach, it's crucial to be aware of the tidal schedule. If your priority is active water sports, aim for high tide. If you prefer long, exploratory walks on the sand or want to see the exposed seabed, low tide is your window. Many visitors find that experiencing both phases of the tide offers a comprehensive appreciation of the beach's dynamic nature.
Watersports and Marine Encounters
The waters off Catseye Beach are also teeming with marine life, making it a fantastic spot for snorkeling. Just a short distance offshore, you can encounter a variety of fish and, if you're lucky, spot turtles and stingrays gliding through the water. These encounters are often cited as highlights by visitors, adding an element of wildlife discovery to a beach day. Remember to snorkel responsibly and maintain a respectful distance from all marine creatures.
Tips for Marine Spotting
* Timing: Low tide can sometimes reveal tidal pools where smaller marine life might be more visible. High tide is better for general snorkeling.
* Location: Explore the areas closer to the offshore reef for the best chance of seeing diverse fish species.
* Patience: Marine life can be elusive; take your time and observe quietly.
