"For a wetland surrounded by dense suburbia, it boasts a surprising bird list. Parrots include Rainbow, Musk, and Purple-crowned Lorikeet in the flowering gums, Galah, Long-billed and Little Corellas in the plentiful grasslands, as well as Red-rumped Parrot. Waterbirds include ducks, Australasian Swamphen, a selection of herons and egrets. Rarer sightings include Latham's Snipe, Pacific Heron, and Buff-banded Rail. The latter can be found in the dense outskirts of the wetland, skulking."

"great, open space for a nice walk. It’s pretty flat the whole way, so thereno need to stress over any hills and slopes! There’s a small playground as well as a wetland, of course. pleasant walking track around the wetlands with lots of bird throughout the walk. Great for some fresh air here at least!
Relatively flat, easy walking."

"It was a bit on the dry side due to our lack of rain fall around here and it was difficult to access the inner pathway to the pond/waterway there and especially when trying to maneuver a person in a wheelchair etc and the exercise Park areas could do with more thought on people in a wheelchair and unable to use both hands/arms like my client whom lost the use of his right side of body due to a stroke/heart attack and also for someone like myself in their 60's+ with osteoarthritis etc, so please consider better exercise equipment and experiences for all abilities."

Birdwatching Paradise
For the dedicated birder, rarer sightings like the Latham's Snipe, Pacific Heron, and the elusive Buff-banded Rail have been recorded. The latter is known to 'skulk' in the dense vegetation along the outskirts of the wetland, so a keen eye and a bit of patience are rewarded. Bringing binoculars is highly recommended to fully appreciate the avian spectacle.
While the wetlands are accessible year-round, the best times for bird activity are typically in the early morning and late afternoon. The flowering gums and plentiful grasslands provide ample food sources and habitat, making it a dynamic ecosystem to observe.
Navigating the Trails and Accessibility
However, it's important to note that after periods of low rainfall, some sections of the inner pathways to the pond or waterway can become dry and potentially more challenging to navigate. This can be particularly difficult for individuals using wheelchairs or those with limited mobility. While there are exercise park areas, their design might not fully cater to all abilities, so visitors with specific accessibility needs should plan accordingly.
Despite these considerations, the overall experience of walking the trails is peaceful and refreshing. The open space provides a welcome break from the surrounding urban environment, and the well-maintained paths ensure a comfortable experience for many.
