8 MILLION DOLLARS OF TAXPAYER MONEY WENT TO THIS?!?!
As much as I love the Art Gallery, this is absolutely disgusting!! I can think of easily 100 better things for the people of Stanthorpe's hard earned money to go to.
This honestly horrified me and was enough for me to remove a star from the review from 3 stars to 2. It was 3 stars before I saw the amount of taxpayer dollars wasted on it. I can't even say "spent" as that is just a waste.
The Carnarvon Bridge has been a ticking time bomb with a walkway blocked off for over a DECADE. The council's excuse? They "lacked the technology" (intelligence, skills and courage) to fix the required maintenance and built pathways all around and under it.
Not directly across like before. The bridge shouldn't even be driven on, why wasn't that prioritised.

This is not the fault of the Art Gallery but the council that provided the funding.
Aside from the spending:
It was soooo beautiful before, the gardens everywhere were absolutely stunning and gave such a warm and welcoming feel to the whole Gallery as well as the Library.
Now it looks and feels cold and unwelcoming.
I'm guessing it's meant to look modern but it really doesn't. Nothing modern looks like this.
As for the inside it is nice. But not $8M nice. Definitely not $6M taxpayer dollars.
Please don't take this review as a review of the art featured (it changes and is beautiful often) or of the Gallery staff, they too are absolutely wonderful), but I just can't justify giving more stars for this. I do apologize to the staff that will have to see this, please don't take this as a reflection of yourselves in any way ♡ "
