What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Point Malcolm Reserve, calling it a 'triumph of municipal ambition' with a 'vast, handsome' and modern playground that delights children of all ages. The upgraded facilities, including new sports courts and beach access, are highly praised. While generally a positive experience, some note the need for more seating and toilets closer to the playground.
"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Point Malcolm Reserve is, I must declare, the Pemberley of playgrounds - vast, handsome, and possessed of so many amusements that one feels quite exhausted merely surveying them. Upgraded in 2017 (a most agreeable modernisation), it now boasts climbing towers so tall they might give even Lady Catherine pause, and a slide so perilously steep it could deliver one from youth to adulthood in a single descent.
The grounds stretch magnificently between Military Road and the sea, offering both civility and chaos in equal measure. Children may climb, tumble, or shriek to their hearts’ content, while their parents - poor souls - attempt to appear delighted. There are courts for basketball and tennis, though I observed them largely occupied by fathers pretending to exercise while secretly hoping their children lose interest in the playground.
Picnic tables abound, though beware the sea breeze, which delights in removing napkins and modesty alike. The beach beyond the dunes is a marvel - soft sand, forgiving waves, and the promise of escape should the playground prove too lively.
Toilets are available (a modern miracle), the car parking abundant, and the general atmosphere one of cheerful bedlam.
In short, Point Malcolm Reserve is a triumph of municipal ambition - a place where children may expend their energy, adults may recover theirs, and everyone may depart sandy, sunburnt, and slightly unhinged. Five stars."

"Super busy little place. Plenty of lawn area, big kids playground, flying fox and an exercise area on one side. Then the courts - tennis and basketball in brand new condition. And then the littler kids area with plenty of climbing, music, trampolines, sandpit and water play.
BBQ facilities, not too many bench seats around though. Lots of walking paths and toilets at semaphore surf club."
