"This is a historical prison island. We used a tour operator (Cat O Nine Tail Cruises) to get there. Some areas of the island is only accessible by a guided tour only. Nice island tour with friendly staff. Takes five hours to come back.
Parking can be difficult on weekends. So go there early to find a parking space. Bring an insect repellent as there are so many insects. Need plenty of water. If you are not physically fit to walk nearly 3 km consider joining the tour again."

Short boat trip from Manly and onto Mt Helena where you will learn about the island's history and where this little island fits into Queensland and Australian history. The tour leader is engaging and knowledgeable. Wear comfortable shoes, take some water and a hat. Eat the provided lunch under shady trees. Highly recommend the tour."
