What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Rockingham Museum for its affordable entry and the passionate, knowledgeable volunteers who bring local history to life. The "Pioneers Women" exhibit is a standout. However, the strict no-photography policy and cash-only payment are noted drawbacks for some.
"Small Museum about the history of Rockingham. Would take you 30 to 40 minutes max to finish touring it; it's like 5 or 6 big rooms.
Contains some other 20s century items that not necessarily related to Rockingham like old radios, old kitchen appliances, etc.
I liked the "Pioneers Women" exhibit & clothings. Harsh conditions they worked in at the early days of the Western Australian colony.
Entry $2.5 per adult & C50 for kids. ONLY CASH accepted.
Shame you can't take pictures inside. Strictly prohibited, which is a condition I think should be relaxed.
Run by volunteers.
I recommend going, especially for Rockingham locals like me. Won't take much time."

"Thank you volunteers for maintaining this vital part of Australian history. I am a direct descendant of Mary Glyde who with her Dad and siblings survived this enormous journey from England to Rockingham. Thanks to this museum this history is kept alive for generations. The struggles and bravery of those early settlers laid the foundation of the nation. My brother had the privilege to visit the museum. Visitors are welcomed and informed of this rich history."
