What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Flinders-Goolman Conservation Estate for its challenging and rewarding Flinders Peak Track, offering stunning views and a great workout. While the hike is strenuous with significant rock scrambling, the vistas at the summit and along the way are consistently highlighted as worth the effort. Some note the unformed nature of the track and recommend caution.
"Nice challenging hike close(about an hours drive) to Brisbane. The track is pretty well defined and in fairly good condition. That said, it is steep, unformed and rough in places with a fair bit of rock hopping and scrambling. There is potential for injuries if you’re not careful. The first section is sustained up hill with some fairly steep sections. The middle bit is not steep but lots of rock hopping along the sandstone spine of the ridge. The last section is steep with some rock scrambling. At the top there’s a helipad and communications tower. Although there is not a 360 view from the top, there are still nice vistas and there’s a multitude of good lookout points along the way, taking in surrounding areas as well as great views east to Brisbane and south to Mt Barney. It took around 3hrs return and that was stopping for photos at the many view points along the way."

"Great walk, you need to be quite fit but nothing too crazy. 4hr return with some rest stops along the way."

"Amazing spot for a sunrise. It's a tougher trail, but most people should get to the top with enough time. If you wanted to catch a sunrise, I'd head off 2 hours before 1st light. To make sure not to miss a thing"
